My First Hands-On Bible - review

My First Hands-On Bible is a perfect choice for any parent who wants to introduce God's Word to their early learners. I love how it is written in a real Bible text (NLT). The activities, discussions, etc... are simple, easy to understand, and a fun way to ignite your preschooler's enthusiasm while learning valuable lessons. I know that I am going to have a great time sharing my faith with my 3-year-old daughter using My First Hands-On Bible.

Thank you, Tyndale House Publishers, for providing me with a free copy in exchange for my honest review.

The Final Summit by: Andy Andrews (review)

I found The Final Summit to be very interesting. I don't read a lot of novels, but I found myself lost in the story almost immediately. I love how historical figures are included in the story line and I even learned some things from history that I was not aware of happening. This is a novel that I would recommend to anyone who has any interest in history.

Thank you Book Sneeze for providing me with a complimentary copy of this book in return for my honest review.

Secrets of the Vine for Women review

Secrets of the Vine for Women is an easy read based on John 15. I have read Secrets of the Vine and enjoyed the women's version since it goes into more depth on how it would apply to me as a woman. The study guide is a nice addition for studying individually or in a group. The reason I would not recommend this book is because I cannot agree with the teaching that sickness is a form of discipline from God. Other than that, it is a good book.

I received Secrets of the Vine for Women free from Waterbrook Multnomah Publishing Group for this review.

The Power That Works In Us

Ephesians 3:20 NKJV
Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,

I read this earlier today and started thinking, “What is the power that works in us?” Well, we know that it is the power of God that Paul speaks of here, but how much of that unlimited power have we allowed to actually go to work in us both individually and corporately?
While I pondered these things the Holy Spirit reminded me of another scripture. James 5:16 (amp) says that the earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working]. We see here that power is made available through earnest prayer. In Luke 24:49 (amp) Jesus tells his disciples to remain in the city [Jerusalem] until you are clothed with power from on high. Also, Acts 1:8 says, but you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you. And then, in Acts 2 we see the manifestation of the promise when they were gathered together in the upper room and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit.
So now we have seen in Scripture that the power of God is made available to us through prayer and the Holy Spirit. Let’s look at Ephesians 3:20 again. Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, ACCORDING to the power that works in us. We know God is able. What is He able to do? Exceedingly, abundantly above ALL that we ask or think. But that is ACCORDING to the power that works in us. God made the power available to us. Now we just need to put it to work in us by spending time in prayer and allowing the Holy Spirit to move.

This Marvelous Love

Ephesians 5:1-2 NKJV
Therefore, be imitators of God as dear children. And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.
Have you ever noticed how beautiful a person who walks in love is? They may not be physically attractive, but because they are covered in a spirit of love they appear lovely. All of their imperfections seem invisible and everyone wants to be around them. That’s how powerful love is! It’s an active force or energy that literally draws people in.
So, how do we obtain that kind of love? Romans 5:5 says, “…the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us”. When we receive Jesus as our Lord and Savior, the Holy Spirit comes to live in us and God’s love is poured into our hearts. Did you notice the word “poured”? In the Bible, whenever God gives something, words like “fill”, “pour”, and “overflow” are used. Nothing from God comes in small portions. God isn’t holding anything back and He never does anything half way. Everything that comes from Him involves filling to the full and overflowing. The greatest love of all is made available to us simply by having a relationship with the source, the Father. After all, God is love (1 John 4:8).
Now that we know God’s love has been deposited in us, we should learn how to tap into it. About three years ago the words “major on love” began to echo in my spirit, so I began to dig into God’s Word concerning the subject. Over a period of time, having studied scripture after scripture and having read other books written on love, I started to notice changes taking place inside of me. It wasn’t long before I began to feel love for individuals who had previously hurt me. My attitude toward them was shifting from anger and resentment to mercy and forgiveness.
How did this transformation happen?
By studying the Word, I was able access the love that had been placed inside of me by the Holy Spirit. I want you to know that once I forgave them, not only did I release them from past wrongs, but I was also set free. I encourage you not to waste your time on holding grudges against anyone! It will hinder God’s blessing from working in your life and it will cause your faith to be of no effect. Galatians 5:6 KJV tells us that faith works by love. If you harbor unforgiveness in your heart, then you’re not operating in love.
Another thing that helped me was to confess God’s Word over myself and my relationships. If you need love to become a more active part of your life, put God in remembrance of His Word. Say, “God’s love has been poured into my heart by the Holy Spirit who was given to me”. Whenever you are tempted to step out of love, confess “I am an imitator of God as His child, and I walk in love just as Christ loved me and gave Himself for me”. Keep the Word before your eyes. Meditate on it day and night. It won’t be long before you will see changes taking place in you. And always remember that “love never fails” (1 Cor. 13:8).

2011 Prophesy

I recently received an email of a prophesy given through Kenneth Copeland about the year 2011. It was so encouraging to me that I wanted to share it. I hope it encourages you also. Happy New Year!!

A Word from the Lord through Kenneth Copeland / 10.28.10

Have no fear of this world. I have overcome it, saith the Lord. I left nothing--absolutely nothing--that faith won't overcome. I left it no power. I left it no strength. It has NO-THING over you.

So, hear this about 2011.

What will it be like?

I will tell you exactly what it will be like, saith the Lord.

Whatever you compromise to keep, you will lose. So be bold in My Word. Be strong and stand up for something. Stand up for the word of faith. Stand up for the fact that God loves you and will take care of you and will continue to take care of you.

And I can tell you this. I have said it before and I will say it again, and again, and again, and again -- times and times again.

I will say it.

For 2011--Everything is going to be all right!

A new day is coming and it is here now. Everything is going to be all right. I said everything is going to be all right.

For all of you that will take My Word and stand on it saith the Lord -- the kingdom is for you, the angels are for you, all of heaven's reserves are at your call. Rise and up and be counted among those that carry faith, live by faith, walk in love and declare that God so loved the world that He gave. Relax and rest and rejoice because everything is going to be all right. Everything is going to be all right. Everything is going to be all right.

2011--Straight From Heaven

A wealthy place. A good place. The Blessing is the place to be. 2011--you will see it come to pass.

It will be said of that year among those that count themselves in the household of God and in the word of faith and those that have stood up and believed My Word and have walked in it all these years--it is going to be the easiest year you have ever had in your life.

Things are going to flow and things are going to just move and flow along. It will seem like you have been caught up in a wave of glory. It will just go and it will go and it will go and you will begin to learn how to just say things and they come to pass. You will walk in the goodness and in the grace and in the mercy of God.

All that you should be, will be.

All that you could be, will be.

And all that shouldn't be, won't be because God is alive and well--and so are you!
